Their love is so evident and we were honored to be able to capture their day, their love, and their story. As Meagan recalls, this is what led up to this fabulous day.

"Andrew had this all planned out. We were at the waterfront in Portland. He happened to know of a little area down at the very end. When we got there, it was a little beach area. Andrew sat down on a log as I was looking for rocks to skip, I had no idea at all what was about to happen next. He told me I had to come sit down, so I did. We started talking and when Andrew was talking he said he wanted to spend forever with me. He got down on one knee and said, "I think this is the first step to forever, Will you marry me?"
I couldn't believe what was going on. I remember asking if he was serious. I started crying. As he was holding me, he said, "This is usually where you say yes" I had totally forgot about everything except how happy I was. And of course, I said YES."

It was a beautiful day filled with love, emotion, and memories....

Three years ago we became husband and wife at Postlewaits in Canby where Kevin and Denae shared their vows. We couldn't help but remember when we stood right where they were.

Their love story is so beautiful, intricate and couldn't be told better than by Denae herself. We were excited to read it and now we're excited to share their story with you.

"Kevin and I first met at a weekend conference at George Fox. We both received the same leadership scholarship and were invited for a workshop. There were only a handful of guys, but by luck, Kevin was the only male placed in my group for the ropes challenge course workshop. We kept in touch via e-mail and instant messaged often and again, by God's hand, we were put in the same freshmen dorm. We had our own circle of friends, classes (Kevin did not declare biology as his major until sophomore year), and interests but some how, we kept in touch and began making a habit of going out to coffee every week. A few days before Christmas break, we had a DTR ("Define the relationship") and decided that it would be best to take Christmas vacation apart from each other in order to really dissect where our friendship was going. Short story is, we decided that it wasn't the right time to pursue a romantic relationship with each other and I promptly avoided him at all costs for an entire month after returning to campus.

Again, by another stroke of fortune, Kevin and I began to once again seek each other's company on a weekly basis, going on walks to the park, sipping coffee, and just talking about life. On February 14th, I proudly sported my Single Awareness Day t-shirt (handmade by my freshmen floor) on yet another late night coffee outing with Kevin. It was freezing, but I remember sitting on the play structure until our behinds no longer had feeling in them. Finally, he told me that he had called my parents and had asked for permission to court me. He didn't want to miss an opportunity at a relationship with me and people he trusted had encouraged him to pursue me.

On December 12 2009, Kevin took me geocashing on the same trail we had had our first kiss. At the coordinates (or close to it...) we were supposed to find a music box, but instead, he pulled out a wooden box containing my beautiful ring. He had asked 2 friends to go ahead of us, bury it, and await our arrival. It was perfect and a complete surprise.
We are so blessed to get to spend the rest of our lives with each other. Kevin is my best friend, and I get to choose to love him every day. Our love story has been an intricate one, we are looking forward to the many chapters to come and anticipate that they will be filled with much laughter and adventure."

This was by far one of the coolest guest sign-in boards we've seen.

During the reception a couple of their friends built a frame for the guest sign-in tree. It was really neat to see the whole process come together.

It all started at the bank. Tyler would go into the bank where Nellie worked, he told her he needed help balancing his account, however it was all part of his master plan to just see her. After weeks of visits and a date to get crinkle fries they made it official. Four months into their relationship while Nellie was out of town one weekend Tyler asked Nellie's dad if he could marry his daughter. Here are some images from their lovely wedding at The Queen Anne Victorian Mansion.

Last month we had the pleasure of heading out to Oahu, Hawaii to shoot Will and Grace's lovely wedding at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Will and Grace are two beautiful people and they embody true love, passion, and commitment. Their story is special, they met while serving in the U.S. Military. During the toast the truth was revealed, Grace wasn't too sure about Will when they first met, however he swooned her with his charm! We were so happy to be part of this beautiful wedding filled with pure love and emotion.

Sweet Thing Bakehouse & Coffee Bar located on the corner of Alberta and MLK is our new favorite place. This darling little bakery and coffee shop opened it's doors last year and is a family owned business run by sisters Shawna & Kindra.

I've known Tyler for years. He's the younger brother of my long time friend Brittany. When I found out he was getting married and I had to say, wait Tyler, as in your little brother? I've always known him as Brittany's "little" brother. Well, he's not that little anymore! We headed out to the Marshall house in Vancouver to shoot their engagement session. Today I was informed that my dear friend Nicole passed away. I have so many fond memories with this lady. Roadtrip to San Francisco, karaoke nights, slumber parties, and so many more that just fill my head.

A while back, Maya was in a car accident that sent her to the hospital, Brandon just so happened to be the EMT during her ride to the hospital, and as soon as she was released they exchanged numbers and now the rest remains history.

A few weeks ago we headed out Canby, OR to shoot Emily's senior portraits. Last year we had a ton of fun shooting Emily's cousin Rachel out on her grandparents property. For this shoot we headed out to Emily's farm, her family has lived there since 1912. It was a ton of fun to photograph her where she grew up. A fun little detail, the letterman jacket that Emily has on was her grandfathers, he graduated from the same high school Emily is attending in 1941.

This was a wedding truly meant to bee! A few weeks back we got the email asking if we’d like to second shoot with the lovely Katie Anderson. Her email read something like this: “Think small, backyard, honey jars for favors, yellow & pewter, fabric accessories, butterflies on cake! Seriously? Yes. Okay, I am trying to contain my excitement.” At that moment a whirlwind of detailed images came roaming through our heads. She had us at backyard and honey jar favors.
The morning of the 5th Oregon rain struck at its best and dumped buckets everywhere. However, the stunning bride Margaret didn’t let that ruin her day. Bright and early she headed out a long with her bridesmaids in search of the perfect rain boots.

This was such a fabulous wedding. The details were never ending and we had a ton of fun!

We had weeks and weeks of gorgeous weather, and of course the one day we decide to shoot it wants to rain. Remembering: The power of photography

When I first started this blog I swore to myself I would not post anything personal. This wasn't about what I was doing this was strictly about work. It then occurred to me that what I was doing played a huge role in the images I create. With that in mind I figured it would be okay for every now and then to post a little somethin' about myself.

About a year ago I had a close friend ask, "why photography" that was simple for me. The idea of stopping time and capturing moments intrigued me. I remember they day I received our wedding photos in the mail I was simply overjoyed by the moments that were captured.

I explained to my grandma my new found love for photography and what it meant to me. My grandmother always did anything she could to encourage, support, and motivate me to keep pursuing my goals. Shortly after that conversation my grandmother bought me my first SLR camera.

I started taking what I thought to be "awesome" shots and I'd show Nana and she'd say "Honey, those look great!" It never mattered how dark, over exposed, and out of focussed they were, Nana always loved them.

I thank my grandmother so much for always being my rock and caring so much about the little things in my life.
This morning at 6am my lovely Nana passed. I share this personal experience simply because it was my Nana who encouraged me to do what I love.

We didn't know that these would be the last photographs ever taken but I am so very glad they were.

Sunday morning we geared up early and headed for the beach. It's always uncertain what kind of weather will be in store for you out at the Oregon Coast, however luckily it was gorgeous day out at Canon Beach. Matt & Steph: Fun and Laughter

Yesterday we did an engagement shoot with Matt and Steph. What was supposed to be a quick engagement shoot turned into 4 hours of us all having a ton of fun out at the Edgefield Mcmenamins. The place was huge and just when we thought we were done we kept finding more wonderful locations to shoot. Here are a few of our faves.

Friday: Photo Fun Night!

So on our off days we still like to explore and have a little fun with our cameras. We met up with our good friend Josh, who is also a photographer. We roamed the streets of Portland with cameras hanging from our necks looking like a group of lost tourists. We had no real direction, concept, or idea of what we'd photograph, however we did know we wanted it to involve a little bit of silly.

Josh pointed out the fact we had matching sweatshirts, he thought maybe that was a "married" thing, however we like to believe it's because we're tough.

As the night progressed and the sun began to fall we knew it was about time to pack up and head home. We wanted to end our friday photo fun night with a bang so we had this brilliant idea of setting the timer and all jumping at the same time... no big deal right??? Ha!

The problem began when we all jumped too early.

Then to make matters worse I (maalaea) couldn't get as much air as Josh and Ian and I simply wasn't having that!

So we tried again and this time I gave myself a running start because I thought I could catch more air, well that didn't go over too swell.

again, only this time Ian didn't like his jump... ugh!

At about this point the soles of our feet were hurting and our knees were aching. We were about to give up when suddenly a random passerby asked if we'd like him to take the photo.

Finally, the shot that ended our friday photo fun night.

Senior Shoot: Rachel

A little while back we had the opportunity to shoot Rachel's senior photos, however we never had a chance to blog about it. Rachel wanted her senior photos to really represent herself and where she grew up. We had such a blast shooting on her grandpa's farm out in Canby, OR. Ian was excited to shoot out there because Canby his hometown. Rachel's grandpa had an old truck on his property and we had a ton of fun using that as a prop. Rachel's smile, energy, and love for the outdoors made this such a fun time for us. We look forward to shooting with more seniors this year!
